UPDATED: Mizzou President Resigns Amid Racial Unrest, Complaints Of Campus Racism

Proud does not sufficiently describe how I feel about this moment in race relations – this movement on the Mizzou campus. It is all that I can do to stand up and cheer from my not-so-spaceous cubicle in my comfortable J-O-B!

This used to be us. When I read this story, I was reminded of a sit-in at Morris Brown College, a member of the AUC, by my college mates in 1988 or 89. The students at Morris Brown took a stand and said no more, and Spelman, Morehouse and Clark came together and we said no more. Because despite whose campus it was on, it was our fight to support our sisters and brothers.

Today, the players said no more. They refused to play; they refused to do what they love; they refused to continue to make money for people who did not respect them. They called for the president’s resignation and they got it!

Mizzou President Tim Wolfe on Sunday acknowledged problems with racism on campus after Black football players vowed to stop playing.
